James Suckling – August 10, 2021
In “Weekly Tasting Report (Aug 3-9, 2021),” James Suckling reviews the following wines:
MORGANTE Don Antonio 2018 – 93 points
“A dark, broody Nero here with lots of ripe dark fruit, tinged with black earth and licoricy notes. Full-bodied with a frame of firm tannin, but the fruit flavors push through to give a long, flavorful finish.”
MORGANTE Nero D’Avola 2019 – 92 points
“Delicious nero d’avola with perfumed black fruit, stained with licorice and herbs. Medium-bodied with an exquisite balance of fruit, well-integrated tannin and spot-on acidity.”
MORGANTE Bianco di Morgante 2020 – 91 points
“Aromas and flavors of apples and lemons, with a hint of bread crust. Almost full-bodied, clean and fruity.”
MORGANTE Nero D’Avola Rosé 2020 – 91 points (Special Order)
“A pretty pink color and a lovely nose of strawberries and raspberries. Medium-bodied with a super-clean, fruity palate. Hint of almond cream at the end.”
